ONGC Videsh, the overseas arm of India’s state-run oil firm ONGC, has been offered acreage in Sudan. According to Sudan’s oil minister, Mohamed Awad, the Indian firm has been offered three oil and gas blocks.
Three blocks offered to ONGC Videsh are Blocks 8, 15, and 24. The offer of the acreage comes after Awad met with his Indian counterpart Dharmendra Pradhan on the run up to the India-Africa Hydrocarbon summit.
Awad also asked ONGC to consider buying a stake in Sudan’s Block 17, according to a Reuters report. Block 17 is operated by Star Oil and currently produces around 7,000 bpd.
