Sudan Plans Drilling Frenzy

Thursday, December 18, 2014

Sudan plans to beef up its oil and gas reserves by drilling a substantial amount of wells. The country’s Minister of Petroleum Makkawi Mohamed Awad told Sudan’s parliament that over 250 oil wells would be drilled in the coming year.

The country is looking to boost reserves by 65.4 million barrels of oil and 300 Bcf of gas, state media reported.

The 253 exploratory wells planned for 2015 could attract foreign investment and aid in paying down Sudan’s debt.
