Tanzania LNG Site up for Review

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

Those firms that have discovered natural gas in Tanzania have met with government officials to review a proposed site for an LNG plant. The partnerships of BG/Ophir Energy and Statoil/ExxonMobil have both discovered significant gas reserves off Tanzania’s coast and the LNG plant will be used to monetize those reserves.

The proposed location for the LNG plant is in the southern region of Lindi.

While an FID on the project is not expected until 2016, a decision on the site is expected to be made by the government by the end of December.
