Libya’s National Oil Corp announced that it, along with its Russian operating partner Tatneft, have made an oil discovery in the Ghadames Basin. The discovery was made in Contract Area 82 Block 4 in Ghadames Basin as confirmed by testing of the new field wildcat well F1-82/04.
The exploration well, located approximately 330 km South of the capitol city Tripoli, was drilled to a total depth of 8,500 feet. The well achieved a flow rate of 1,870 barrels of oil per day from Devonian and Ordovician sandstones. The F1-82/04 well is the third discovery well in this license.
Tatneft is the operator of the license holding a 10.5% interest in the EPSA IV contract with NOC. The state company holds the remaining interest.
