TEN Development Drilling to Resume in 2018

Thursday, November 9, 2017

Both Kosmos Energy and Tullow Oil revealed separately in recent corporate reports that drilling of development wells on their TEN deepwater project in Ghana is expected to start in early-2018.

Development activities on certain areas of the TEN oilfield had been put on hold due to a maritime boundary dispute between Ghana and neighboring Cote d’Ivoire. The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea or ITLOS ended the dispute in September by drawing a boundary that favored Ghana.

In addition to sharing the news on the TEN development drilling Kosmos also revealed that the Jubilee field is expected to require two more shut downs in 2018. The shut downs are to stabilize the turret of the FPSO that was identified with a problem in early 2016. The company said the two shutdowns will result in about four weeks of downtime for the field.

Planning for the rotation of the vessel in the Jubilee field is also ongoing, with work expected to begin around year-end 2018, Kosmos said.
