Thailand’s state-run firm PTT signed a 2.6 mtpa agreement with US independent Anadarko Petroleum Corp. for LNG produced on the US firm’s asset offshore Mozambique. The 2.6 mtpa willl come from the planned 12 mtpa capacity of the LNG facility currently in the development stage in the East African country.
The facility, which will be equipped with two liquefaction trains, will treat the gas extracted from the perimeters of the Golfinho and Atum fields of Offshore Area 1 in Mozambique’s Rovuma basin.
The agreement will enter into effect between 2022 and 2023, the date of the launch of major gas activities in the country. However, the details of the delivery arrangements and the value of the agreement have not been specified.
This marks a major step forward in the FID process by Anadarko and its partners. The FID is expected to betaken prior to mid-2018.
PTTEP, a subsidiary of PTT, holds a stake in Offshore Area 1.
