Three Die at Zelten Oil Field

An accident at the Zelten oil and gas field in Libya led to the death of three workers. According to media reports, the men died after inhaling gas during routine maintenance.

Two of the men killed were of Sudanese descent, the nationality of the third man was not yet reported. A fourth person is being treated at the hospital.

The Zelten field is operated by Sirte Oil Company, a unit of state-run NOC. The field produces at a rate between 35,000 and 40,000 bpd.

NOC issued a statement on its website regarding the incident revealing that a number of officials from the state-run firm and Sirte paid a visit to the site after the incident. The purpose of the visit was to support the employees and workers at the field in light of their loss. While at the site, the officials examined the scene of the incident and extended their sincere condolences to the workers.
