Total Constructing Lubricants Plant in Oran

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

Total increased its footprint in Algeria with the launch of construction on a lubricants production plant in the industrial zone of Bethioua in Oran.

The lubricant plant, with an estimated cost of 4.5 billion Algerian dinars, will be erected over an area of 41,000 square meters and will produce 40,000 tons of lubricants per year.

“The products that will come out of our factory in Oran will be of impeccable quality (…) There will be no difference between our products that will leave our Oran unit with our products made in France and elsewhere,”  Said Bernard Carbo, CEO of Total Lubricants Algeria.

In addition, the lubricants division of the French energy group plans to take advantage of this investment to acquire significant market shares in this segment, as local demand is increasing.

“The Algerian market is the fourth largest in Africa. We want to seize this opportunity to increase our market share, which is currently 14%,” Carbo said.
