Tuesday, June 13, 2017

Total plans to invest in new gas and power infrastructure projects in Africa. In its bid to open new markets the company is eying Morocco and South Africa for those infrastructure investments.

Total plans to almost double its LNG portfolio by 2020 to 15 mtpa, but is investigating new markets with new gas buyers for the increase.

In South Africa, the company is planning to invest in a $3.9-billion gas-to-power development project in South Africa that will require 1.6 mtpa of gas imports. In Morocco, the company wants to invest in a project, which includes the import of up to 7 Bcm of gas by 2025, the construction of a jetty, terminal, pipelines and gas-fired power plants with a capacity to produce up to 2,400 MW of electricity. This project has an over $4.5-billion price tag.
