The planned Uganda/Tanzania crude pipeline that will take Ugandan crude from the Hoima region to Tanzania’s Tanga port is quickly moving in the right direction. The company began receiving expressions of interest from engineering firms on June 12.
Total is working on establishing a list of pre-qualified firms to choose from for the major EPC management contract for the $3.5-billion East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline.
In late-May the governments of Tanzania and Uganda signed a framework agreement on the pipeline. The framework agreement between the two governments is seen as a key milestone for the project.
The agreement covered terms on tax incentives for the project, implementation timelines, the size of the pipeline and local content levels, keeping it on track to complete in 2020.
