Trans Niger Pipeline Shut In

Tuesday, July 12, 2016

Just several days after a force majeure was lifted on Nigeria’s Bonny Light exports by Shell, one of the pipelines that carries the crude to the export terminal was shut in. According to reports the Trans Niger Pipeline was shut in on July 11.

It is unclear what the cause of the shutdown is nor was it reported what impact the shut in would have on production, if any.

The force majeure that was in effect until recently was placed on Bonny Light crude on May 11.

Adding to Nigerian woes is the fact that the country is still unable to export the Forcados crude blend. The underwater pipeline has been out of commission since February due to an attack. According to Nigerian authorities the repairs should be completed by the end of July.
