Sunday, August 14, 2016

TransGlobe Energy Corp. revealed in its Q2 report that its 2016 drilling program in Egypt was launched during the quarter. The drilling program began with the spudding of the K-48 development well in the South-K field.

The K-48 well encountered approximately 33 meters of net oil pay in the main Asl A formation, and was completed and placed on production with an initial production rate of approximately 460 bpd

In addition to the K-48 TransGlobe began its 2016/2017 multi-well program when the rig was moved to the North West Gharib concession. Two exploration wells were drilling on the concession during the quarter, the NWQ 29 and the NWG 21. Both wells were plugged and abandoned.

The rig is scheduled to return to the South-K field in Q3 to drill additional wells.

Also during Q2 TransGlobe finalized a production recovery plan (PRP), which incorporates two additional wells at South-K (West Bakr), 16+ recompletions, pump optimizations and facility upgrades at West Gharib and West Bakr, plus first production from the NWG 3 discovery in Q4. The company is targeting a 2016 exit production rate of 13,000 to 14,000 bpd upon successful execution of the PRP.
