Trinity on the Hunt for Farm-in Partner in South Africa

Tuesday, September 3, 2013

Envoi Ltd. has been commissioned with the task of working to find a farm-in partner for a block offshore South Africa. The block, Pletmos Inshore Block, is currently operated by Trinity Exploration & Production Co. Trinity holds the block with a 100% interest and is looking for a partner.

The block is a newly defined and unexplored post-rift Cretaceous play, containing potential DHIs, where hydrocarbon system is already proven regionally by nearby producing fields & locally by undeveloped syn-rift discoveries. Newly defined prospect inventory contains mean unrisked resources of 2.8 Tcf with rapid route to commercialization in a high-value local gas market.

The Pletmos Block, which incorporates the undeveloped Ga-V1 gas discovery, is located in the OuteniquaBasin, in water depths ranging from 10 meters to 150 meters. Trinity’s latest interpretation with the reprocessed seismic has defined a largely untested ‘post-rift’ (Barremian) sand play fairway linked to the Plettenburg Graben where they have defined several potentially large, combined stratigraphic and structural prospects, none of which have been tested by historical wells, which also have AVOs that are now being evaluated for their DHI potential.

Under Trinity’s agreement with the government, the work commitment for the initial period consists of the reprocessing of 2,500 km of vintage 2D data (which the company has completed) and the acquisition of new 2D data and related G&G studies. Trinity believes that their latest work potentially justifies drilling a well as an alternative to fulfilling the outstanding work obligation with seismic. Trinity would, therefore, like to find a capable offshore operator, willing to fund either the infill 2D seismic obligation work program and/or one subsequent exploration well, to earn a majority interest in the block before it expires in April 2015.

Envoi is currently preparing its traditional, more detailed, synopsis on the opportunity which will be made available as soon as it is completed. Envoi said that in the meantime, access to the key data on this opportunity can be made available after execution of a confidentiality agreement (CA). Serious parties will subsequently be invited for a presentation and full data review in Trinity’s offices in Trinidad or London as appropriate. All expressions of interest and requests for more information, including a copy of the CA for execution prior to access to the online data room, should be made through Envoi.
