Tug Boat Sinks off Nigeria-Crew of 12 Missing

Wednesday, May 29, 2013

West African Ventures, owned by Sea Trucks Group, saw one of its tug boats sink off the coast of Nigeria. The Jascon-4 was under contract to Chevron when it sank.

The vessel capsized due to “heavy ocean swells” while it was performing towing operations offshore Nigeria’s Delta state and all 12 of its crew members are missing.

“Rescue operations involving sea divers are still ongoing and a full investigation into the incident is taking place,” a spokeswoman for the company said.
