Thursday, November 14, 2013

Tullow Oil’s first well in its current exploration campaign offshore Mauritania should be complete prior to year end. The company said the first well, the Fregate, on the C-7 License was spud at the end of August and was expected to reach total depth in December.

Following the drilling of the Fregate well Tullow said that the rig will move to the C10 and C6 licenses, where it will drill the Tapendar and Sidewinder prospects respectively.

The company also said that the field development plan for the Banda field has been approved by the government. The Banda, which was declared commercial in November 2012, will supply gas from the Banda field to a new local power station. Significant progress is being made with the government, its partners and the World Bank to agree on the commercial contracts required for sanctioning the full project.
