Tullow Oil, over the past five and a half months, has transported a total of 30,000 barrels of oil from Turkana to the port of Mombasa in Kenya. This equates to 600 bpd shipped in four trucks every other day under the Early Oil Pilot Scheme. However, Tullow had promised before the start of the extraction that the initial production quota would be 2,000 bpd.
The JV between Tullow and the state-owned petroleum company said that after settling disputes with local communities last August, it undertook the necessary work to reach 2,000 bpd.
As a reminder, the dispute resulted in a two-month suspension of operations. The company made the decision to add the Twiga field production to the Amosing and Ngamia fields, following production and water injection trials in the initial development phase.
In addition, Tullow reported that the oil pipeline and engineering project for the transportation of crude oil from the Lokichar fields, whose design work was announced in May this year, is expected to be completed by March.
