Tunisia’s Production Declines

Friday, June 24, 2016

Tunisia’s production is on a downward swing according to figures out of the country. As of late-April the North African country saw its production fall 11.2% compared to the same period in the previous year.

The production decline is attributable to a number of technical problems at some wells and natural decline in others. The fields experiencing these issues include the Hasdrubal, the Bir Ben Tartar, the Adam, and the El Borma to name a few.

Production news out of Tunisia is not all bad however, as the Maamoura, the Astarte, the Baraka, and the Sidi Kilani all saw production increases. Unfortunately for the country the increases were not enough to make up the gap caused by technical problems.

Moreover, the situation is unlikely to improve anytime soon because over the interval of one month, three oil companies, PA Resources, Dualex Energy, and Cooper Energy withdrew from some major assets.
