Companies interested in gaining access to Ugandan acreage need to hurry and get their Application for Qualification (AfQ) in as the deadline is June 30. Interested parties also have an opportunity to participate at a June 17 promotional forum.
The round consists of six exploration blocks in western and northern Uganda. The blocks include the Semiliki and Kanywataba blocks in the Ntoroko district, the Ngassa in Hoima district, the Taitai and Karuka in the Buliisa district, the Mvule in Yumbe and Moyo districts, the Ngaji in Kanungu and Rukungiri districts. These blocks have both seismic and well data which were acquired by oil companies previously licensed in these areas. Stratigraphic licensing will be applicable to some of these blocks. The Ngassa, Taitai, Karuka, Turaco, and Kanywantaba blocks all saw exploration by Tullow Oil. The Mvule and the Ngaji were part of acreage held by Tower Resources and Dominion Petroleum respectively.
Petroleum Africa was notified by the Petroleum Exploration and Production Department (PEPD) that the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, in conjunction with Schlumberger Oil Fields Eastern Ltd., that it is also organizing a promotional road show for the licensing round in London at Montcalm Shoreditch London Tech City Hotel on June 17 from 9am to 4pm. The occasion will be attended by the ministers from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development; along with the technical staff from these ministries.
An exhibition along with technical presentations will be delivered at this road show. The companies need to register to participate in the show. No fees are required.
