Given the success of its first licensing round, Ugandan authorities are considering launching a new licensing round, offering the three blocks that were not grabbed up in the first round.
The blocks are the Taitai & Karuka oil block, Mvule oil block in Moyo/Yumbe and the Ngaji block between Rukungiri and Kanungu.
The Mvule and Taitai & Karuka blocks were actually bid on in the first round; the Mvule by Glint Energy and the Taitai & Karuka by Swala Energy. It was reported that the government did not even evaluate the Glint bid as the company failed to meet its prerequisite requirements.
Swala’s technical and financial proposal was deemed inadequate. No firm bide was received for the Ngaji block.
