Uganda Ready to Award Blocks in June

Companies who bid on blocks put up for auction by the government of Uganda should hear word soon as to whether their documents contained a winning bid.  Uganda’s energy ministry said on May 17 that it would award three of the exploration licenses in June.

Energy Minister Irene Muloni said in an emailed statement laying out the Ministry’s performance over the last 12 months that they would issue three licenses next month according to a Reuters report.

“Three exploration licenses are due to be issued in June 2017,” she said.

Companies that were selected to negotiate with the government after the closing of the bid round WalterSmith Petroman Oil, Oranto Petroleum International, Niger Delta Petroleum Resources, and Armour Energy. Muloni did not reveal the companies that won access to the three licenses.
