Uganda/Tanzania Pipeline Set for 2020

Wednesday, August 3, 2016

Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy has said that the oil pipeline taking crude from Uganda through Tanzania to the East African coast should be complete by 2020.

The $3.5-billion pipeline will traverse 1,443 km from the oil fields in Uganda in the Lake Albert region to the port of Tanga in Tanzania. Construction work on the pipeline is expected to begin in June 2017.

The pipeline was originally going to go to the Kenyan port at Lamu, but Total pushed for the pipeline to go through Tanzania due to the security concerns in Kenya.
