UNOC Takes Over Jinja Terminal

Uganda’s recently created state-run oil and gas firm, Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), has taken control of the Jinja Storage Terminal. The terminal, which can hold 30 million liters of petroleum products, has been underused for the last 20 years.

John Bosco Habumugisha, the general manager National Pipelines Company (subsidiary of UNOC)speaking at a function at the terminal said UNOC has the mandate to develop and operate storage terminals and other petroleum infrastructure in Uganda.

He went on to say that the state-run entity One Petroleum Limited was selected as a strategic partner to form a JV with UNOC to operate the Jinja terminal on a five-year basis. He said through the JV they have filled the tanks with 13 million liters which they will sell to local dealers.
