An ISIS camp west of Tripoli, Libya was bombed by US warplanes on February 19. According to the US Department of Defense the airstrike killed at least 40 people.
A Tunisian extremist Noureddine Chouchane(also known as Sabir), was said to be the target of the attack. Chouchane is allegedly an ISIS facilitator in Libya. While it is not known for certain whether he was killed in the strike, US officials said it was “likely” he was among the 40 killed.
Just days before the US airstrike Libya’s internationally recognized government in the East had one of their jet fighters shot down while carrying out strikes against militant positions in Benghazi.
