Tuesday, October 31, 2017

The US has entered into energy supply agreements with Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa. The announcement was made by Rick Perry, the Secretary of Energy, at the Africa Oil Week conference held last week in Cape Town.

“The United States wants to become a partner of Nigeria, South Africa and the whole continent in the field of energy,”Perry said.

Discussions are said to be underway and many possibilities are being considered such as LNG or coal. Perry also stressed that the goal for Washington is to produce electricity for the landlocked areas of these countries.
