Following the announcement comes after its Southeast Etame/North Tchibala (SEENT) platform installation, VAALCO Energy commenced the drilling campaign of six wells on its Etame Marin block, offshore Gabon.
The Etame 8-H is the first of the development wells to be spud using the Transocean Constellation II jack-up rig, which will also be used for the Etame 9-H and 10-H wells. The rig will target the Gamba sand formation in the Etame field, with first oil production from the Etame 8-H well expected in December. The newly installed platforms are each equipped with eight well slots to provide for the option to drill up to five additional development wells from each platform after the completion of the current six well drilling campaign.
