Friday, April 20, 2018

Sami Iskander, executive vice president of Shell, told delegates attending the 9th Mediterranean Offshore Conference and Exhibition (MOC 2018) held in Alexandria, Egypt this week, that the company will start the 9B Phase development of the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) concession during the current quarter.

Shell picked up the valuable asset in 2016 when it acquired BG Group which held a 50% interest in the development.

The WDDM is located off the north Egyptian coast, abutting the Rosetta block, in water depths ranging from 700 to 850 meters. Twelve of its 19 gas fields are currently producing and Phase 9B work will aim to bring additional fields onstream.

Shell is partnered with Petronas on the project and the partners work in conjunction with EGPC in a three-way joint venture, Burullus Gas Company.
