It wouldn’t be Monday news without a round-up of some of the violence that took place over the weekend in Africa. In Nigeria the Boko Haram was busy, killing 15 in a blast in a northern Nigerian market. While the group has not yet taken credit for the blast, it had all the hallmarks of the Boko Haram.
Reports have the blast being set off by a female suicide bomber, killing at least 15 people and injuring another 50 or so.
Over the border in Cameroon, another suicide attack left 19 dead in the town of Maroua. This attack was also carried out by a female bomber, a teenage girl according to state television.
In Somalia, the Al Shabaab Islamist militant group killed at least three when members of the group drove a car packed with explosives to the gate of the Jazeera hotel. Unlike the Boko Haram in Nigeria, Al Shabaab was quick to take credit for the bloody attack.
