Wildcat Petroleum Updates its Situation in Sudan

Monday, October 9, 2023

UK-listed Wildcat Petroleum in its Catflap newsletter provided some updates on the situation with its ongoing efforts to secure management rights to several oil production blocks in the country,

Wildcat reports that despite ongoing conflict in the country, the Sudanese oil sector has not been affected to any great extent. The amount of oil South Sudan is pumping through the Sudanese pipeline to Port Sudan has actually doubled since the conflict began on April 15.

The Ministry of Energy and Oil has relocated to Port Sudan due to the on-going conflict in Sudan and Wildcat states it is fully engaged with the Ministry in order to get a deal signed, hopefully by the end of the year.

The company also offered a few clarifications as there seems to be a little confusion over the location of the Bamboo field (Wildcat Field).

  • The company’s ultimate intention is to manage oil production in Blocks 1, 3, 4 & 5. A MOU was signed over these 4 Blocks last October.
  • The Bamboo Field is contained within the acreage encompassed by these 4 Blocks.
  • Once Wildcat has developed the Bamboo Field its intention is to develop other oil fields contained within the boundaries of these 4 Blocks.
