The Wood Group has been awarded a contract by Kenya to design a pipeline. The pipeline, which is estimated at $2 billion, will transport crude produced in Kenya’s Lokichar basin to the Mombasa port.
The 800-km pipeline is expected to be built before production is due to start in 2021/22.
Andrew Kamau, the principal secretary at the Petroleum and Mining Ministry, was cited as saying in a Reuters report that the design work would take eight months.
The government had invited engineering design bids in January for the pipeline.
