Zambia Revokes Five Licenses

Tuesday, February 14, 2017

Zambia’s mining minister, Christopher Yaluma, revealed on the sidelines of an industry event that the government had revoked five oil exploration licenses. The Minister said that the companies involved had failed to comply with the rules.

He did not provide any names, however.

“We had given out 17 licenses and defaulted a few because of non-compliance and not responding to the license conditions, so now we have 12 left,” Yaluma was cited as saying in a Reuters report. “If they don’t come at pace with the program we have scheduled for them we will revoke the licenses.”
