Zarara Awaits Bigger Rig

Tuesday, May 22, 2018

Zarara Oil and Gas reported that its drilling on Kenya’s Pate Island, the Pate-2 well, is at 300 meters. Country manager Peter Nduru said drilling of the Pate-2 well top-hole is complete and the company is now awaiting the arrival of a bigger rig to drill deeper.

The larger rig is being mobilized from Tunisia and will allow the company to continue drilling as deep as 4,500 meters. Mobilization has faced a few challenges such as heavy rain.

Zarara contracted a top-hole drilling rig from Drilling Spares & Services Ltd, an experienced Kenyan drilling company. The rig was used for the Pate-2 and will also be used by the company to drill the top-hole for the Pate-3.
