Zohr Aids in Rosneft Production Boost

Egypt’s massive Zohr gas field has aided Russian firm Rosneft in boosting its gas production. The firm saw gas production rise 1.5% year on year to 17.12 Bcm.

The production from the Egyptian field was 64 Mmcm/d at the end of Q1. Production from the Zohr field is expected to reach 76 Mmcm/d by the end of the year.

“The growth in production was mainly driven by the increase in the capacity of the Egyptian project Zohr and the commissioning of new gas wells on the Yem-Egovskoye field in Nyaganneftegaz in 2018,” the company said in a statement.

Rosneft holds a 30% stake in the Egyptian field, with reserves of 850 billion cubic meters.
