Zohr Production Hits 2 Bcf/d

Monday, September 10, 2018

Italian oil major ENI announced the massive Zohr gas field offshore Egypt’s Mediterranean Sea is now producing 2 Bcf/d, equivalent to approximately 365,000 boed.

This outstanding result has been achieved only a few months after the first gas in December 2017 and one year before the schedule of the Plan of Development (PoD), ENI reported in a press release.

This level of production was achieved thanks to the start-up of the fifth production unit (T4), backed by the 8 gas producers and a new 30” x 218 km sealine, commissioned in August.

The Zohr field was discovered by ENI and partner Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) in August 2015. The JV company Petrobel aims to reach a plateau of more than 2.7 Bcf/d in 2019.
