Zuetina’s Libyan Production Remains at a Standstill

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Libyan oil production and export for Zuetina Oil Co. continue to suffer disruptions after protests at the oil fields and export terminal entered into a third week.

Local news source Libyan Herald quoted a company spokesperson as saying that even if there weren’t protests, exports would be unable to flow because strikes at the fields have stopped production. Employees are demanding a change in management, higher wages, and increased holiday pay.

The country is also suffering a power shortage as a result of the strikes, according to the Electricity Minister Ali Mohammed Muhairiq and Oil Minister Abdulbari Al-Arusi. Gas production has resumed, but oil production is still shut-in.
