ENI Makes Offshore Libya Discovery

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Despite the less than stellar security situation in Libya, ENI has managed to knock out a new discovery. The company hit gas and condensate while drilling the Bouri North prospect in Area D offshore Libya.

The discovery was made with the A1-1/1 well, drilled at a water depth of 125 meters. Gas and condensates were encountered in the Metlaoui Group of Eocene age. During the production test, which was constrained by surface facilities, the well flowed at a rate of 1,340 boepd.

In production configuration, the well is estimated to deliver in excess of 3,000 boepd.

The well represents the second discovery made by ENI in Libya’s offshore Area D since the beginning of 2015. The company announced a previous discovery on Area D in March.
