Chad Strike Continues

The three day strike launched by workers in Chad has been extended according to a union official. Workers launched the strike on March 9 wanting an increase in pay; however, the three days resulted in no firm commitment from the Chinese firms so the strike will go on.

“We are renewing the strike and stepping it up a gear. Our team in the fields have asked the Chinese supervisors to stop any activity,” Lagmet Harge told Reuters. Drilling came to a complete halt on March 12.

The strike has yet to halt production at the affected fields or at its 20,000 bpd refinery.
