US independentNoble Energy is in Egypt for talks with the state gas company about importing natural gas from its Israeli gas fields to Egypt to help meet growing demands.
Gas shipments could come from Israel’s offshore Tamar gas field, which the US firm operates. There have been talks regarding connecting the Tamar field to the Damietta LNG plant on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast. Delek Drilling, one of the partners in the field, said in November that if an agreement is signed, gas supplies to Egypt could start flowing in 2017.
The imports from the Tamar field are not the only that Egypt has in the works, the government has signed deals with Algeria and Russia’s Gazprom recently for LNG imports.
